FASHION MODELS
Fashion models are the link between the fashion designers and the customers or the public. Fashion models are largely responsible for the success or the failure of a particular brand of clothing or accessories. They are the ones who bring various fashion collections in front of people through ramp shows. But the work of fashion models is not limited to ramp shows, it also includes editorial modeling, covering photography for magazines, television and print advertisements, catalogues, etc.
Models have to satisfy certain physical criteria to get into the business of modeling. These are standardized criteria laid down by the British Association of Model Agents (AMA). It says that female models should be around 34-24-34 and at least 5 feet 8 inches tall. However, different fashion houses differ in their expectations from a model and so the physical criterion set by different fashion houses is different. The preferred dimensions for male models are 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet 2 inches height, a chest of 32-40 and a waist of 26-33.
Then there are different kinds of models, meaning models for endorsing different type of products. These include glamour models, fitness models, bikini models and many more. Glamour models are expected to utilize their sexuality to promote the product they are modeling for. Famous glamour models include Pamela Anderson and Lucy Pinder. Fitness models are expected to be super fit and having a good muscular body is a must for them. Bikini models are also required to be fit and sexually appealing. Apart from all these models who are used to promote products and brands, there is a very different class of models known as art models. Art models pose for photographers, sculptors and painters. Among all these types of models, there are supermodels for each kind of modeling. Supermodels, also called as showstoppers, form an inherent part of the brand or the product they are modeling for.
